Multiple school records were broken from both boys and girls for their weight classes at the power lifting meet Jan. 29.
The records included senior Amari Munoz with a squat of 290, a bench of 205, and a dead lift of 300, along with freshman Aimee Weinheimer benching 130.
“I was excited for the girls,” girls powerlifting coach Tyler Cleavinger said. “They need to continue getting stronger overall and have the chance of breaking more.”
Weinheimer wants to improve both mentally and physically.
“I’m looking to improve things like my squat and just in total,” she said. “Even little things like my mental or my breathing too.”
Seniors Kristopher Ramirez, Aaron Everts and Kingston Middleton all broke bench press records, along with junior Max Osburn setting a new deadlift record.
“We’ve done a really good job as a team this year,” boys powerlifting coach David Brister said. “We’ve set some school records, and the kids continue getting stronger, and records keep getting broken.”
Although many records were broken at this meet, Brister said he’d like the team to work on dead lift.
“Thats probably our least lift,” he said. “We need to get some of our kids to work on that. We should continue working with that and build off what we have.”
