Soccer season began with the boys’ first scrimmage here Dec.12 against Rockdale and the girls’ first scrimmage at Jarrell. Tryouts were Dec. 1-4.
“The soccer season starting always has me feeling great,” soccer coach Samuel Burnside said. “I love seeing the kids, and us coaches alike, filled with anticipation and positivity about what this new season could bring for us as we compete to achieve goals we have been talking about for a few months now.”
Players did a healthy mixture of conditioning, ball skills, passing, shooting, and gameplay situations during their 4 days of try-outs.
“Tryouts went very well,” senior Juan Rodriguez said. “We saw a lot of great new and old players. Each of them had great potential, so I’m really excited to see how they progress over the season.”
Teams were posted Dec 4.
“I feel confident with our team lineup this year,” senior Veer Patel said. “Vibes are great so far, and I think we’re ready to build onto this momentum to get us through district and playoffs.”
#LittleByLittle is the boy’s soccer team’s motto for the year, and Revive is the girls’ soccer team’s motto.
“We are rebuilding our culture, and I’m so excited to see what this group of girls can accomplish,” senior Kelbie Black said. “Every year has been nothing but memories and laughter, and I know this year will be nothing but the best.”
Most of the boys’ team are seniors.
“Most of our team is in the same boat in that we have one more season,” senior Parker Boykin said. “We all know we need to give it our all. I believe this season is our biggest chance to make a run into playoffs.”
