Coaches Alison Tippie and Kimberly Burnside — two best friends since Tippie’s first year coaching in Burnet in 2022 — have now found themselves on a life-changing journey together: pregnancy.
“We were very excited,” both Tippie and Burnside said.
Tippie and Burnside met coaching together in Burnet. They met in the weight room, shared stories and have hung out ever since.
This is the first year for both of them to teach and coach in Lampasas.
“I would say we are very close,” Tippie said. “We hit it off right away like we had known each other forever my first year in Burnet.”
Both friends share many experiences and have grown closer, thanks to their similar appetites and closely-aged children.
“Our sons are almost exactly a year apart, so we have a lot to share, and it is fun getting to experience this pregnancy together and share food/drinks we love together,” Tippie said. “It is exciting to get to have babies only a couple months apart and raise them in Lampasas together.”
Burnside’s son, Wesley, and Tippie’s son, Truett, both play football. Tippie said they are “both young but are so cute together.”
“Our little ones are a year apart right now and the next one will be about 5 months apart,” Burnside said. “It is going to be so fun to watch them grow up together!”
Since Tippie and Burnside are both coaches for Lampasas, they will appear for Strength Weight Agility Training (SWAT) during the summer as mothers of newborns.
“We will have summer things and I will show up and be there,” Burnside said. “I will still be around at SWAT and do skill days.”
Burnside’s husband football coach Samuel Burnside will also attend SWAT in hopes of their baby enjoying the early morning summer workouts.
“We already know Wesley loves it up there,” Samuel Burnside said. “Once our new baby sees Wesley having some fun, I am sure they will follow suit!”
Not only are Tippie and Burnside close friends, but Samuel Burnside and Tippie’s husband are friends too.
“[My wife and Tippie] have enjoyed coaching together and teaching close to each other the past couple of years,” Samuel Burnside said. “Tippie’s husband and I, as well as all our kiddos, have also gotten to become friends through their friendship as well.”
Coach Kimberly Burnside’s soccer season will start Dec. 12.
“I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know and work with [Burnside],” sophomore Valle Bales said. “We’re so excited to all welcome another bright face into Lampasas.”
The closeness and excitement from family, friends and coaches lead Tippie and Burnside to share everlasting moments and lifelong similarities with each other as best friends.
“It is nice to have someone close who we can both share anxieties, excitement, name ideas, etc. with who is also planning and experiencing the same things,” Tippie said.
