Drugs can be scary, but what’s even scarier is students dressing up to scare drugs away and say BOO!
Students wore Halloween costumes to school Oct. 31 as part of the themes for Red Ribbon Week. The theme that day was “Say BOO! To Drugs.”
“I really enjoyed Friday when we dressed in our Halloween costumes,” student council member Cinai Testamark said. “It was a fun way of expressing ourselves. Friday definitely had the most participation.”
Students liked seeing the variety of themes on Friday.
“I thought the Superman costumes were hilarious,” junior Jessyn Ramos said. “I’m glad that the recent movie is bringing him back into the lime light.”
Although having fun with the themes, Ramos said that the themes next year should try to be more relevant to modern day trends.
“We should have themes relevant to modern culture,” she said “If we re-use the same themes, then we might get bored.”
The student council made sure to keep the themes strong, powerful and against drugs.
“We had to think of ideas for something that would be against drugs,” Testamark said. “So we came up with prompts pertaining to Red Ribbon Week like ‘Team Up On Drugs, Twin Day.”
Testamark said he would rather have the “ Student-Teacher Swap Day” be a pajama day.
“If I had to switch one, I’d switch the swap day for a pajama day,” he said. “I’d call it ‘Sleep On Drugs.’”
Students saw lots of amazing costumes and lots of expressions Friday.
“I saw costumes everywhere,” sophomore Theren Lauthen said. “It was honestly beautiful.”
