The football team played its final regular season game Nov. 3 and will begin playoffs this week.
“We just need to always give 110% all the time, every down,” senior Benjamin Ybarra said. “If we do this on both sides of the ball, we’re going to go far.”
For Ybarra, this will be his first time going to the playoffs as part of the team.
“I’m excited to be in playoffs and it’s safe to say that the rest of the team and coaches are too,” Ybarra said. “It’s something I’ve always gone to with my family in the stands but now I will be in pads and on the field and that is very exciting.”
Head football coach Troy Rogers said that while the team is ready for playoffs, he tries to focus on one game at a time.
”Every game brings new opportunities and the personal and team growth that comes from all the obstacles you face during games is what is important,” Rogers said. “Excited to continue on this journey with this team. We have a special group.”
Sophomore Bryson Roberts said the season had many good moments and the one that stood out most was beating Burnet Oct. 6.
“The best part of this season was giving our rivals, the Burnet Bulldogs, a beatdown at our own Badger Field,” Roberts said. “[As for playoffs] we adapt our offensive and defensive schemes to best line up against the other team’s.”
Ybarra said that the team has become more and more like a true family throughout the entirety of the season.
“We all became brothers,” Ybarra said. “I hope to have made memories that will be with me forever.”
