The boy’s basketball team will play Stephenville at home at 6:30 p.m. The Badgers are 16-3 and face Stephenville who are 14-6.

The Badgers beat Stephenville 65-60 Jan. 12. The Badgers lost Tuesday’s district game vs Brownwood 69-56 but the Badgers are looking to regain their momentum tonight as there is a three way tie for second place in district.

The team has been more dominant to this point of the season than in years past.

“I think our season is going well and I’m excited to see what else awaits us,” junior Nate Borchardt said.

This year has been tough not only because of the competition but because of the new rules allowing [teams] to play more than two games in one week, so there were weeks where we played 4 games in 5 days.

The Badgers hope to win the rest of the games in district and have a spot in the playoffs.

“We are still in a good position to make the playoffs,” junior Kaeden Crawford said.

Although the season is going well, there are some differences playing in a pandemic.

“The pandemic has really changed basketball for many reasons, those being fewer fans [in the stands],” senior Landon Mulcahy said. “And also fewer games. This year has been tough not only because of the competition but because of the new rules allowing [teams] to play more than two games in one week, so there were weeks where we played 4 games in 5 days.”

The Badgers are hopeful about the rest of the season and look forward to the rest of district play.

“I definitely see a playoff spot for us,” Crawford said. “I think we have the talent to finish out district strong. We just have to do what we do and trust the process.”
