After starting their season on August 15, the tennis team’s record stands at 8-1. The team started district play on Sept. 14 with a match against Liberty Hill.

“I’m excited about this season,” junior Brady Carroll said. “I think that we have practiced long and hard throughout our season so far.”

The team hosts the Taylor Ducks on September 21. The Badgers’ tennis team makes their record 9-1 and to continue on with a winning record. The badgers won against Taylor 14-5.

“We beat Taylor last year by quite a bit. This year, we did the same,” junior Megan Dwamena said.

On September 14, the tennis team won against Liberty Hill. With that victory over the Panthers, they advance to bi-district. They won with a match score of 15-4.

“Our Liberty Hill win was very exciting, and I think it’s going to build up our confidence moving forwards, especially because we lost some of our top guys,” Dwamena said.

The Badgers won/ loss  Burnet on Sept. 28. Beating  burnet advances their winning streak. A win will set their record to 10-1.

“Im ecstatic to be a district champion,” Carroll said. “ I feel that even since we lost some of our top guys, that we still came out on the top side. Winning district makes us a step closer to regionals, then after regionals, state.”

On Oct. 23 and 24 Badger Tennis will be competing at the regional quarters meet. Later in the week, the players who qualified for regionals will advance for at shot at state.

The team’s athletes who advanced farther than regionals, will go to the state match in College Station****.

“I am ready to see how our team will do in the course of our fall season,” Carroll said. “I know the team can handle any opponent that we will face.”
