Principal Paul Weinheimer sent an email to teachers April 15th with the final exam schedule.
“AP Testing has a schedule set in place by the National AP Board, so we wanted to work around that schedule,” Weinheimer said. “We also did not want to put four tests on the same day as feedback from some students was that it was quite stressful.”
Weinheimer said he thinks the new schedule gives students more time to study since the tests are so spread out, and teachers will have time to get tests graded and make sure grades are accurate when finalized.
“There may always be some small changes in schedule and from things that are out of our control,” Weinheimer said. “We will do our best to put a schedule together that is beneficial to everyone.”
Before changing the schedule, there was input from students in the past and AP teachers.
“When I first heard about the [schedule], I felt a little frustrated and caught off guard because I had already planned my study schedule, but at the same time, I was curious if [a four-day schedule] might actually work out better for me,” freshman Haley Magilke said.
Magilke said the new schedule seems less stressful than the schedule for midterms.
“At first, I thought that the schedule would be harder and stressful, but after realizing there are only two finals everyday, I became a lot more confident,” Magilke said.
Magilke said the schedule gives her and other students more time to study for their tests.
“The schedule for the midterms was very stressful,” Magilke said. “I felt like there was way too much on my plate, taking four very important tests in eight hours. It was a lot because it felt like I didn’t really get a break, but this schedule makes me feel like I will perform better on my tests since they’re so spread out.”
