New water fountain extensions were installed for students and teachers who have been using refillable water bottles and cups.
Assistant principal Ryan Race said the installations are to promote healthy living.
“The students and teachers alike seem to believe that it was a good change,” he said.
The new fountains fill up bottles much faster than the previous fountain extensions.
“It’s really helpful, especially after things like athletics, because it fills up my bottle really fast,” freshman Kayla Crowe said. “I don’t have to worry about rushing anywhere because it took forever for my bottle to fill.”
The new fountains show a counter of how many bottles have been filled up.
“I like that it shows the counter because it makes me feel like I’m doing good for the environment,” Crowe said. “Save the turtles.”
The fountain is sensor activated and hands free, promoting clean drinking.
“It’s great that it prevents the spread of germs and better filters the water,” junior Kelbie Black said. “It makes me feel better about drinking the water after all the water issues we’ve had.
Some said the new fountains add an elevated look to the school.
“We are excited that our upper administration supports us with this endeavor to help our students and faculty,” Race said.
