Student council President Isabel Ybarra brings new beginnings to the high school. This year, for the first year, the teachers have the opportunity to win their own homecoming king and queen positions.

“Mr. McQueen deemed this idea possible on Sept. 9,” student council sponsor Jenn Moore said.

This year is a test run for this new homecoming activity.

“I talked about it with another cheerleader and we thought it would be a fun way to get the teachers involved,” Ybarra said.

Student council plans to announce the winning teachers during the school pep rally, and they will stand up to be recognized.

“The teachers have the opportunity to be crowned,” Moore said. “We are still working kinks out of everything.”

If this is something the students and staff enjoy, the school will continue to do it in the future.

“I do think people will enjoy this,” Ybarra said. “It allows students to have some fun with campaigning for their favorite teachers.”
