When you are walking down the halls, you are sure to see a man suited up in his police uniform with the pride in protecting the students of the school.

“I love this school,” Robert Phillips said. “It is an honor and a privilege to help these students and be a mentor to them.”

Recently Phillips was promoted from Officer to Sergeant.

“It feels great,” Phillips said. “Promotions are great, but this means I won’t be assigned to just the high school. I will be at all the schools in the district. Somebody else will be taking my position here, but I will be able to come back. With any sporting event away with the high school, I’ll also be travelling there.”

I am glad I get to serve more of the students and residents of Lampasas. I want to be a great mentor to the little kids.

It is currently undecided who is taking Officer Phillips’ spot as school resource officer.

“I am glad I get to serve more of the students and residents in Lampasas,” Phillips said. “I want to be a great mentor to the little kids. I have always wanted to be a police officer. Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned, but I stayed true to my gut and followed my dream. Protect and serve. This promotion has come with a lot more responsibility, but I am ready and excited to take on the position.”

Phillips stated he will use the same police vehicle.

“I hope to be a great mentor to the men that I will be in charge of,”Phillips said. “The men have a ton of knowledge and are excellent officers and I could not be more excited to have a great staff to work with.”
