Girls Cross Country Team To Run At Regionals

Oct. 11 the Lampasas Cross Country Teams competed in the district cross country meet, held  at Lampasas High School. The girls varsity advanced to regionals with a third place finish. Those girls are Taylor Moore, Abby Valdez, Mackenzie Best, Annabelle Brack, Caitlyn Townsend, Addison White, Kailey O’Donnell, Leilani Alvarez and Lilly Brady.

The Varsity Girls will race at Regionals in Corpus Christi on Monday Oct. 22. For the past three years, cross country has competed at regionals.

The JV boys placed second.The JV girls also placed second.  Varsity boys finished 4th missing regionals by first place.

“I enjoy cross country because when I’m running I can forget about everything going around me in life,” junior Annabelle Brack said. “I get a chance to get lost in my own thoughts for a while. That’s why I do it. I’ve tried other sports, and this is what I’ve always been the best at. After competing I feel refreshed and proud of myself for what I’ve just accomplished.”

Brack will be advancing with the varsity girls team to regionals. This will be Annabelle’s third time competing at regionals.

“I love cross country because I get to spend time with Coach Allison,”  Freshman Tate Rainwater said. “He’s a really good coach and has taught me some valuable things about cross country, along with some life lessons. It’s fun to compete at meets with my team and spend time with my senior friends Qadir, Jon and Eric.
