Senior Jacie Resa was crowned homecoming queen during halftime at the homecoming football game Sept. 26.

“I did not think I was going to win at all,” Resa said. “The whole court was deserving of winning queen, so I was very excited to see who would win.”
The senior class voted for the homecoming court the week before homecoming. The queen’s court consisted of seniors Jacie Resa, Kelbie Black, Natalie Braudt, Leah Phillips, Giselle Ruperto and Aubrey Stubbs. The final voting for queen was open to all students Sept. 25 from 7:45 a.m to 5:30 a.m.
“I am super grateful to be on a court with such amazing girls,” Resa said. “Thank you to everyone that pushed me to be my best self.”
Resa is in varsity volleyball, NHS, HOSA and FFA. She works at Storms and likes to fish, hunt and play sports.
“It was so fun being on the court,” Resa said. “It was exciting and nerve racking at the same time.”
It is tradition for the previous year’s homecoming queen to return to the next year’s homecoming game to crown the new queen. Last year’s homecoming queen Hailey Palmer returned to crown Resa, and Resa said she is happy to continue the tradition.
“I am super excited to come back next year and see who will be next year’s queen,” Resa said. “I also will love to be back home at a badger homecoming game for the hometown traditions.”
Resa’s father escorted her on the field. Resa said the main reason she wanted on the court was to get a chance to get a good picture with her dad.
“My dad and I have a great relationship,” Resa said. “Being escorted by him was amazing. He was cracking jokes, which made all my nerves go away.”
Resa said she was so surprised that she won, her immediate reaction was to hug her dad.
“I was not surprised she won because she has her daddy’s looks,” Resa’s father Robert Resa said. “It was a very well deserved win, and I am very proud of her. We are a very well knit family. She is my best friend, and I am proud to be her dad.”
