While many students see school as a source of education, there is another field that lies inside: entertainment. There is a vast pool of activities that school provides so that students can have fun throughout their high school journey.
Students should be more involved in school related activities such as student-led organizations, sports teams and extracurricular competitions.
Being involved in school activities helps students become more socially interactive than the average high school experience. Majority of these activities require the involvement of other schools, meaning there are more social aspects than the typical student-teacher relationship. If there are students with similar interests in the same vicinity, then conversations would most likely start. These students participating in such events can help build their social skills by interacting with like-minded students. With similar interests and skills, it can help create new friendships and positive relationships.
Engaging in these activities can also unlock a new interest or hobby by dabbling into different fields. There are countless options to choose from that the school offers: sports, extracurricular competitions, student-led organizations, after school clubs and so much more. Since there is so much variety present, it’s only natural that students are curious about what exactly those activities do. By experimenting with the different fields available, there is a chance that a student may find a new hobby to enjoy or interest to pursue.
In addition to not only finding a new interest to pursue, these activities can help better the mental health of the student body. Most events in life can cause stress to our overall well being, especially the case for the average high schooler. By participating in these activities, it can take the mental load off their minds-off the stress of life as a whole-and focus on the happier things. The distraction of doing something you love can help improve the well-being of the mind, bringing the peace of comfort when times seem tough.
Some argue participating in school activities is a waste of time. They say if a student participates in an event and doesn’t enjoy what it entails, then they essentially wasted that time that could’ve been put toward a field that’s already in their comfort zone. While staying in the sanctuary in a comfort zone is nice, there’s also an infamous quote that every one should follow: “You won’t know until you try.” If there is a student who has never gone into the field of sports, then they don’t have the experience to finalize if they enjoy it; this also applies for any particular activity, since no one knows if they like it or not unless they give the time and effort to participate in it.
The student body should prioritize spending time searching for the school activity to be more involved. At the end of the day, students should enjoy their high school experience the most they can; they only have this one experience, so they should try to live it out to the fullest possible extent rather than letting time fly by, missing nostalgic memories to reminisce further into the future.
