Art Club designed Thanksgiving cards and delivered them to the Caraday of Lampasas Nursing Home Nov. 22.
“The students came to me with the idea to create Thanksgiving cards for a local nursing home,” art teacher Judith Brown said.
Art club members created anywhere from 1-10 cards with fun, uplifting designs over a two week period.
“I designed a fall-like scenery and the words ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ on the top of the card,” art club vice president Skyler Michaud said.
Students were excited about this project because it gave them a chance to give back to their community.
“Writing these cards made me feel joyful because it made someone’s day,” sophomore Tanner Carney said. “They are a great way to boost someone who feels forgotten, lift their spirits and tell them that they are loved. Also, it was a great way to boost my creativity.”
This project benefitted not only the elderly in the nursing home, but the art club members as well, Michaud said.
“We have to find community service hours that have to do with art and our creativity,” Michaud said. “I think making cards for the nursing home patients was a great way to do that.”
