The boy’s varsity basketball team has been progressive and strong this season. They won 59-50 against Faith Academy at home Nov. 17.
“So far, I feel like things are going very smoothly,” basketball coach Aaron Nuckles said. “Our practices have been very upbeat, and we have picked up where we left off from summer/fall workouts. Our non-district schedule that we have put together is the toughest that we have ever had, so it will for sure show us our strengths and weaknesses before the district portion gets here.”
Junior Beau Patterson said while he may have not performed well against Glen Rose Nov. 19, the team performed admirably.
“We were playing a very talented team,” he said. “Glen Rose has some knockdown shooters. I feel like we should, you know, fix our transition offense and transition defense.”
Once the second quarter of the Glen Rose match ended, Lampasas tied it back up. Patterson said he enjoyed going into the locker room and sparking back confidence to continue the match. The final score was 52-68.
“I believe they have a really good team,” he said. “They were just coming off of a really nice win, so I feel like it’d be a good challenge for us.”
Nuckles said one strong point they carried over from last season was the ability to play together.
“The team is moving the ball around quite a bit and a lot of different people are getting touches, and most importantly playing, their individual roles,” he said.
