Sophomore varsity cheerleaders cheered at their first varsity football game Aug. 30.
Sophomore Jade Guzman said the cheerleaders got to the football field before 6:30 p.m.
“Before the game we have to get all our megaphones and line them up,” Guzman said. “We have to get our poms ready, and we have to hang up all of our posters that have us on them.”
Guzman said the cheerleaders left at about 10:00 p.m.
“The game was really good,” Guzman said. “My favorite part was being on the sidelines with my team.”
Guzman felt excited prior to the game because it was her first time cheering for varsity.
“During practices we review our material to make sure that everyone knows what to do, and before the game the captains and leaders tell us the little things that we’ll have to know about,” Guzman said.
Having a pep rally and a football game on the same day isn’t that bad, according to Guzman.
“It’s actually quite fun going from a fun school activity to having to cheer on the football players,” Guzman said.
Sophomore Sophia Storm said the football game was really fun.
“My favorite part about the game was when we would score and the crowd got excited and started cheering,” Storm said.
Storm was both excited and nervous before the game.
“Before the games and pep rallies we have to learn almost all our material, which is sideline cheers, band dances, and all that stuff,” she said.
Sophomore Isabella Decal said the cheerleaders performed really well Friday.
“They had tons of energy,” Decal said. “They were super positive and excited throughout the whole day.”
Decal said the performance at the pep rally was amazing and brought a lot of good vibes.
“I witnessed a ton of cheerleaders talking about the game and pep rally and showing their excitement,” Decal said.
The cheerleaders always make football games and pep rallies a fun experience, according to Decal.
“All of the cheerleaders are super nice, and they’re very cute,” Decal said. “They are definitely all super sweet, I love all of them.”
