Get a ticket, get fed, get inspired, get excited, get to know the Badgers.
The boys and girls basketball teams are hosting the “Meet the Badgers” fundraiser Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the cafetorium.
“It’s a new thing that our booster club came up with this year,” head basketball coach Aaron Nuckles said. “It’s a way for them to make a little money to support the boys and girls basketball teams, but it’s also a way to get the word out and maybe create a little bit of energy and buzz for the boosters and the teams.”
The culinary program will serve a fajita dinner at the event. There will be a guest speaker, silent auction, photo booth and team member introductions.
“We’ll be on the stage, get some music playing, introduce everybody and run them out,” Nuckles said. “We’re trying to create a little pre-district excitement.”
The guest speaker is high school basketball official Mitch Lofton.
“I met Mitch through basketball and I’ve known him for many years,” Nuckles said. “He’s retired from the United States Army. He speaks at different engagements if the topic is something that’s important, which this is.”
Tickets cost $15 dollars and can be bought at Pratus Insurance, Kempner Equipment Co., The Cherry on Top and Hodges & Sargent Pharmacy.
“The teams are excited about it,” Nuckles said. “We hope this will people excited and at the end of the day get more people to come to our games.”
