Taylor Swift announced 15 new North American show dates for her Eras Tour Aug. 3
“I was ecstatic!” sophomore Brennan Herring said. “Me and my mom were both on the same page. We just had to find tickets.”
Fans were able to register to become a verified fan by picking two show dates they wanted to attend. Doing this would allow fans to buy tickets through the presale. Emails were sent to verified fans Aug. 8, and in the days following verified fans could purchase tickets.
Junior Trinity Watkins got tickets for both her and her friend, Herring.
“I luckily got a presale code, and I asked my mom if she would order them since it was the first day of school,” Watkins said. “She was beyond stressed because the website was acting weird when we had to pay for them.”
Last year, Ticketmaster gave out more verified fan codes than their queues could handle, resulting in them having to pause this queue and leaving many anxiously and irritably waiting. This year, Ticketmaster sent out codes to barely any fans, leaving them without many opportunities to see Swift.
“We did try to get tickets last year, by we I mean me and my family, and it was so hectic,” Herring said. “We could not get them.”
Watkins and Herring will drive eight hours to New Orleans Oct. 24, 2024, the day before the show.
“Since it’s on a Friday we are driving down there on Thursday,” Watkins said.
For Herring, this will not be her first Taylor Swift concert.
“I went to her 1989 tour,” Herring said. “I loved it so much, watching her perform is amazing and she is such a good performer. I love watching her have so much fun!”
Fans dress up in elaborate costumes that mimic outfits Swift has worn in the past. The outfits that are often full of glitter, rhinestones and fringe.
Each night Swift performs two “surprise songs” that she has not performed on tour or that she has messed up on during a previous show.
“I am most looking forward to the surprise songs and dressing up,” Herring said. “I have already been searching for outfits.”
Herring said she loves Swift because of her long-lasting presence in her life.
“Her music is so emotional, and she just means a lot to me,” she said.
