The first pep rally of the football season is tomorrow afternoon. The theme is “Let Me Take You to Badger,” inspired by the movie Rio.
“We were inspired,” senior Janie Risa said. “We had like a little voting thing and just everybody loves Rio, and I feel like it’s like such a vibe all the time.”
The cheer squad had ideas for the pep rally since spring and had practices throughout the summer and even attended a camp in July. Official practices and preparations for both cheer and band started at the end of July.
“I am super excited for the pep rally,” cheer coach Shannon Lindsey said. “I love pep rally season and seeing all the students have the opportunity to show their school spirit.”
For freshmen, this is their first high school pep rally.
“I am expecting it to be so loud, and lit, and seeing a lot of people doing flips and a lot of games,” freshman Evelyn Gaspar said.
For seniors, it’s bittersweet.
“These are the people that I would like to spend the last [pep rally] with,” Risa said. “So it’s very, very, very fun. Very good!”
Senior Riley Nolan said that for seniors it’s more important than ever to have fun at the pep rallies.
“Make it count. Go all out,” Nolan said.
