Flames and dance classes will perform their annual spring showcase April 21 and 22 at 6 p.m. in the cafetorium.

“The groups are getting more and more excited and driven as we get closer to the date,” Flames director and dance coach Jana Crawford said.

Flames and dance members began to work on their pieces months ago.

“Our practices have been long and tiring but it’s worth it because our dances look better,” freshmen Mia Bazaldua said. “I love dancing and I especially love showing my parents and friends the dances that I have been working on for months.”

Students choreographed all class, squad, solo and duet dances.

The dancers have been working hard on implementing various ideas into their choreography and really trying to incorporate techniques from the year and more audience appealing visuals, depending on their ideas,” Crawford said.

This will be the final showcase for seniors.

“Rather than mistakes, I am more focused on making sure that our seniors get positive and long-lasting memories from this experience,” Crawford said.

Senior Isabel Marks said she has a bittersweet attitude toward the performance.

“I’m excited, but also very sad,” she said.

Bazuldua looks forward to the finale of the show.

I love doing our final kick routine and having one last dance with our seniors as well as those who are leaving the team,” she said.

Like Bazuldua, Marks is most excited for the finale.

“It’s kicks and Whitney Houston, and who doesn’t love Whitney?” she said.
