FCCLA hosted a pumpkin painting contest  during academic period Oct. 26-27 to showcase the artistic talents of students.

Science teacher Jonathon VanLiew’s class won Most Creative, English teacher Jenn Moore’s class won Most Spooky and dance teacher Shelby Hodnett’s class won Most School Spirit.

“With these past two years being unable to do much as a group because of COVID-19, just being able to participate in group activities is what it’s all about,” FCCLA sponsor Jason Walsh said.

Academic periods were provided one pumpkin for the contest so it was advised that students be final and absolute in their design decisions.

“It’s so cool to have everyone doing group work for fun again after the pandemic and all that,” senior Jessica Miller said.

Principal Joey McQueen announced the winners before the pep rally Oct. 29.

“I felt surprised when I saw all the other pumpkins so I’m glad we were different,” freshman Makayla Johnson, a student in VanLiews class, said.
