The Badger football team will play their first district game against the Taylor Ducks at Badger Field Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Football sweetheart nominees will be announced at the pep rally, and the winner will be announced during halftime.

“Our district games are going to be fun to watch and play in because of the competition within our district,” senior Connor Keele said. “I feel like we will be prepared for the challenges that lay before us in the district because of the games we played before.”

The team has won two out of the five pre-district games this year.

“I think the football season is going well,” senior Michael Neary said. “We got off to a shaky start, but with a new group of guys it’s expected. We just need to learn to play together, and I feel like we’ve done a good job about that these past couple games.”

Senior Nate Borchardt said the team has been preparing for district.

“Not everyone has played together, so we are trying to build our chemistry and hopefully it works out well,” Borchardt said.

Junior Dylan Sanchez said the season started off slower than the team hoped it would, but they are working together to get better.

“I feel pretty good about our district games,” Sanchez said. “Three of the five games are going to be at home, and that’s a really good thing.”

Keele is confident the team has a chance to make the playoffs this year.

“We have a strong chance to make the playoffs and hopefully a little bit of a run,” Keele said. “This year I believe that the team has a tight bond and once we work out the kinks we will be able to work in unison and show out.”
