Whataburger is opening a store in Lampasas and is set to finish construction some time this summer.

“I think it is going to be a great restaurant to bring to our town,” junior Sarah Jarboe said. “I feel as though our town has needed more places like that so it’s great that we are having one built. I do think it was needed for sure, but I do think we need more than just burger and chicken places being brought to town. We need more healthier options.”

With Whataburger originating in Texas, it is a very popular choice for many citizens, but some people think it is too much.

“I feel like a lot of people will enjoy its construction, but for me personally, there’s too much options for different burgers but not different types of food,” senior Jacdon Green said. “I always enjoy foods that are new or different so when I see another burger place it can feel pretty annoying. If someone actually spent the time to open a really good Chinese place they would make a lot of business.”

However, others are ecstatic about the building of the restaurant, like history teacher Mark Guszak.

“This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to Lampasas,” Guszak said. “Welcome Whataburger. Whataburger is the best, and it is the best restaurant we will have in this town, next to Schlotzky’s. Burger King, Storm’s, Brad’s, Sonic, McDonald’s, say goodbye to a big chunk of your business.”

With all of the support, Whataburger is likely to become very successful in Lampasas, but baseball coach Chance Evans believes that Chick-fil-A would be a great addition to Lampasas.

“I’m excited about Whataburger,” Evans said. “I think it is going to be great. They have great food, and I think any other options we can bring to Lampasas the better. If we get a Chick-fil-A I’ll never leave Lampasas.”
