Most girls dream of having their Cinderella moment, especially at prom. Thanks to Beta Mu, a service organization that works to help the community, one lucky girl will have the opportunity by winning a free dress for her big day.

     ¨Each year before prom we send out an invitation so that young ladies in their senior and junior year can apply for a “fairy godmother” to help them with dresses, shoes, hair, and makeup for the prom,¨ member Amanda Morris said.  ¨Individuals that apply should have a hardship that would keep them from attending prom.¨

     This annual program is called ¨Cinderella´s Closet,¨ and applications were due Feb. 27. LHS prom will be held in April.

     ¨Prom is a very special memory for high school students and the ladies of Beta Mu want to help them have a very special event,¨ Morris said.  ¨I always tell them that I want them to feel like a ´Princess´¨

     Dresses for the event are often donated to Cinderella´s Closet by members of the community.

     ¨If these dresses do not fit, then we shop and look for alternatives,¨ Morris said. ¨It is our goal that the young lady chosen has a great memorable experience.¨

     The ladies of Beta Mu look forward every year to being able to help a young girl on her big day.

     ¨This experience helps the students, but it is also gratifying for me and the other ladies that help,¨ Morris said. ¨When you see the smile on their face and know that you are helping make a dream come true, it makes all the difference.¨
